The perfect ending

We wouldn’t be talking about clutch performances following Saturday afternoon’s 4-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox if it wasn’t for Craig Kimbrel.

The Boston Red Sox closer recorded his 20th save of the season to preserve the team’s 44th win of the season.

That is what a closer is supposed to do right?

Well yeah, but it is the way Kimbrel has been doing it as of late.  The perfect ninth inning marked his 11th straight save in as many chances.  In striking out two in recording the three outs, the 30-year-old reliever is showing that dominance that makes him an opposing force on the mound.

With a 2.00 ERA, the man is simply giving Alex Cora and the Red Sox that reliable, dominant closer who finishes out games with consistency, especially with a two-run lead.

Hopefully, he can continue his dominance in the late innings down the stretch and into the postseason.
