The Jaguars are the Patriots only true competition

The AFC has been owned by the New England Patriots for a while. They have dominated the NFL leaving every other team in the dust. Now that doesn’t mean that the Patriots haven’t had some tough games.

Week 2 against the Jaguars will be the toughest matchup of the season. No matter the result I expect these two teams to meet once again in the AFC Championship.

The Jaguars have the only defense that can stop New England. They are the only defense that causes Patriots fans to worry. You could argue that the Jaguars defense won them the AFC Championship last season, but the passive offense caused the Jags to fall apart.

If the Jaguars do win they will be on their way to home-field advantage. If the Patriots continue to get bit by the injury bug they could fall out of the top and may have to play a road game. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have fond memories of the Patriots in playoff games outside of New England.

The Patriots need to defeat the Jaguars so they can assert themselves as the top team in the AFC. One loss can ruin an entire season.
