David Price must defeat his playoff demons

Can David Price win on the big stage?

That will be the main question going into the 2018 American League Divisional Series.  If he is to do so, he must perform against the very team he has struggled against this season, the New York Yankees.

With a career 5.03 ERA in the month of October, Price must find a way to get past the demons of playoffs past and because that solid pitcher he was through much of the second half of the season.

His success (or lack thereof) will be highlighted even further if Chis Sale isn’t at top strength.

While David Price was effective coming out of the bullpen in last year’s ALDS against the Houston Astros, he will win Boston Red Sox fans over if he pitches solid against the Yankees and lead this team to a win or two.

It would be quite poetic if he does. At least he isn’t shying away from the big game.  Then again, the David Price we’ve come to know always embraces a challenge.  Sometimes he comes through, sometimes he doesn’t.  It is when he doesn’t that sticks out in the mind of his critics and fans.  Now is the time to shut everyone up and deliver.

He is saying all the right things entering this year’s playoffs.

"“Just focus on every pitch,” Price said, via NBC Sports Boston.  “I don’t feel like I’ve lost focus in playoff games or not had 100 percent intent on every pitch that I’ve thrown, ‘cause you know I don’t throw at 90 percent.  I’m always out there throwing at 100 percent.”"

Well David Price, it’s beyond time to prove it my friend.
