Boston Celtics: 3 reasons C’s are capable of dethroning Warriors
By Dan Orencole
Celtics bench vs. Warriors bench
In a seven-game series against Golden State, a team has to have a multitude of players chipping in off the bench and being fresh to beat the Warriors.
It’s because Golden State relies heavier on its stardom in the starting five than other teams can, for good reason.
This season the Celtics bench ranks 12th in the NBA in terms of efficiency NBA Efficiency recap = ((Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks) – ((Field goals attempts – Field goals made) + (Free throws attempts – Free throws made) + Turnovers)) at 42.3 and the Warriors rank 27th in that category at 35.7.
This season the Warriors have only played two bench players more than 20 minutes — Andre Iguodola against the Denver Nuggets and Jonas Jerebko against the Utah Jazz.
Boston has played three players off the bench for at least 20 minutes in each of its three games to start the season.
The Boston Celtics bench will be one of the key reasons if Boston defeats the Warriors.
