8. Signing Alex Cora to be the new manager.

On October 22, 2017, the Red Sox announced that their next manager would be Alex Cora. After 5 years of John Farrell, Red Sox management thought it was time for a change. Alex Cora was the perfect replacement, shifting the culture in the Red Sox clubhouse and giving the players someone they felt that they could be friendly with, something Farrell could not do.

Alex Cora was a great manager for the Red Sox in 2018, winning a franchise record 108 games and more importantly, winning their 9th World Series, and 4 in the past 15 years.

Cora provided great leadership and owned up to his mistakes, something the former manager never really seemed to do. Cora created a family in the clubhouse, giving the players something they could get behind. The players simply believed in Cora, and it paid off.

Hopefully Alex Cora can be the manager here long-term. The team can do some serious damage over the next few years if they keep the core of their team together, starting with the manager.
