Ranking New England Patriots Thanksgiving Day games
2. November 25, 2010: Patriots 45, Lions 24
The 2010 Patriots were a dominant team in the NFL. They went 14-2 before losing in the Divisional Round of the playoffs to their AFC East rival the New York Jets. In week 12 at Detroit though, New England was on a roll.
The Lions grabbed a 7-3 lead in the first quarter thanks to a Calvin Johnson touchdown, and they actually led 17-10 at halftime. Maurice Morris ran a score in for the Lions and BenJarvus Green-Ellis did the same for the Patriots.
New England tied the game at 17 in the third quarter on a 5-yard pass from Tom Brady to Wes Welker. Detroit responded with another 1-yard Morris touchdown. That would be the Lions last score of the night though.
Still in the third, Brady hit Deion Branch on a huge 79-yard pass that went for a score. The fourth quarter also belonged to New England, with Branch, Welker, and Green-Ellis each adding another score. The huge fourth quarter meant a huge blowout win for the Patriots as they continued their NFL dominance.
Brady was 21 of 27 for 341 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Patriots defense meanwhile held Lions QB Shaun Hill to 285 yards and 1 touchdown, picking him off twice and sacking him twice.
