1. Andrew Benintendi

The Boston Red Sox outfield overall was solid defensively all season long, particularly in the playoffs.

Andrew Benintendi certainly made his share of plays in the playoffs and World Series that made him worthy of being one of the heroes of the postseason. But how he sparked the team as the No. 2 hitter is what makes him one of the heroes of the 2018 regular season.

No, Benintendi didn’t put up the monster numbers many were expecting, but he did bounce out of an early season slump to become one of the team’s top run producers.

Batting .290 with 16 homers and 87 RBI, Andrew Benintendi settled into his own as the No. 2 hitter behind Mookie Betts.  There was a stretch during the season when Betts was out that Benintendi really stepped up by getting on base in a similar fashion to that of Betts.

While base running was still an issue at times, what Andrew Benintendi gave the team at the plate in clutch situations and defensively were a big part of the team’s success.  Hopefully, his overall performance in 2018 will catapult him to a breakout season in 2019.  He is definitely due.
