3. Stop Melvin Gordon

The Chargers have multiple playmakers on offense. Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Tyrell Williams lead their receiving core. Melvin Gordon is a top running back who lines up behind veteran QB Phillip Rivers. Gordon is the definition of a bell cow back, as he can pound the rock 25-30 times a game, but can also catch 10 passes out of the backfield. Gordon is a weapon, and the Patriots focus should be on him.

The Patriots have allowed on average, 112.7 rushing yards per game, 4.9 yards per attempt and 7 rushing touchdowns. The Chargers run game is going to play an important factor come Sunday. If the Patriots defense can stop Gordon, that makes the Chargers offense more predictable and pass oriented.

The New England Patriots are 4-5 when they allow the opposing team to run for over 100 yards and are 7-0 when they hold the opponent under 100 rushing yards.

If the Patriots are able to complete any of these things, they should be in line for a victory and yet another AFC Championship appearance. It is the NFL, and we all know how unpredictable it can be. Go Pats.
