New England Patriots: 5 offensive players to watch in 2019 NFL Playoffs
If the New England Patriots are to reach Super Bowl LIII, they will need key performances from these five offensive players.
The stage is set. Following NFL Wild Card Weekend, the New England Patriots will square off against Phillip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC Divisional Round game at Gillette Stadium.
If the Patriots get by the Chargers, they will face the winner of the Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs. If the Colts upset Kansas City, the Patriots will host the AFC Championship game. If the Chiefs prevail, Bill Belichick and crew will have to travel to Arrowhead Stadium.
Whatever scenario plays out, the New England Patriots are going to have to get a solid performance from their offensive line. Solid o-line play will allow Tom Brady to gain rhythm in the passing game and will help establish the run. That’s where players like Shaq Mason, Marcus Cannon and Trent Brown will come to play valuable roles, especially against the pass rush of the Chargers.
It’s simple, if the offensive line does not hold up, the Patriots’ offense will struggle. While it does start there, the New England Patriots playmakers have to step up and be more consistent than they were during the regular season.
Brady and the offense are not as explosive as they were in past seasons, especially without the services of Josh Gordon, but they are capable. This is the postseason and there is always a player who steps up for the Patriots, but the following five players are players to watch in the 2019 NFL playoffs. If they excel, the New England Patriots will advance.
