Sony Michel

The New England Patriots running backs in general are players to watch, but rookie running back Sony Michel is the player to watch here.

In almost recording a 1,000-yard season despite missing a few games, Michel showed his importance in the Patriots offense with some impressive performances during the second half of the season.

His maturity and experience playing in big games at the University of Georgia will have him ready to produce, but in which way he will produce depends on the game and the defense he is going against.

While James White and Rex Burkhead will be important factors catching the ball out of the backfield, Sony Michel hasn’t been used in that role much.  He does have the ability, however, and I think that is where the Patriots will catch teams off guard.

Against a Chargers team that has struggled against pass-catching running backs, don’t be surprised if suddenly Josh McDaniels draws up plays to get Michel in the open field catching the ball.
