The New England Patriots are Super Bowl champions thanks to some amazing performances from these players.
Life as a New England Patriots fan is pretty awesome. The franchise has won their 6th championship in 17 years. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Super Bowl LIII was an interesting one because it was so uninteresting. It was a defensive battle and the lowest scoring Super Bowl of all-time. Who would have thought that would happen?

Patriots fans were expecting a shootout with two high powered offense’s going against one another. I guess it is true that defense wins championships.
The Patriots have cemented themselves as the greatest franchise in NFL history. No one has dominated the NFL like New England has. At this point, you should change the Vince Lombardi Trophy to the Bill Belichick trophy.
We are literally watching history unfold before my eyes. This must be how Chicago Bulls fans felt when watching Michael Jordan. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are just on a whole other level.
There is nothing that can be done to take the greatness away from this team. They have proved that no one knows how to win like New England does. The franchise that at one point seemed to be on its last leg has reached the mountain top.
But for now, let’s focus on the amazing individual efforts from these 5 New England Patriots players on a historic Super Bowl Sunday.

1. Julian Edelman
There is only one way to start this list off. You have to start with the great performance from Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman.
Edelman was an absolute beast. Whenever Tom Brady needed him to make a catch, Edelman was in the perfect spot.
This was Edelman’s best performance in the big game. He was catching the ball all over the field. Edelman had 10 catches for 141 yards.
After missing the first 4 games of the season due to a PED suspension this was a great ending for Edelman’s season. Edelman has always had to face adversity from the start of his football career and he once again hopped over all the hurdles this season.
Julian Edelman proved that he still has some great games ahead of him. With the possibility of Rob Gronkowski retiring at an all-time high, the New England Patriots will need Edelman to continue to rack up catches if they want to make it back to the Super Bowl.

2. Rob Gronkowski
Rob Gronkowski may have been absent for most of the regular season, but he sure showed up in the postseason.
It seemed like the Gronk of old was gone. We saw Gronkowski stay in to block much more often.

In the Super Bowl, Gronkowski made some important catches. Late in the 4th quarter, he put the Patriots in the red zone with a great catch. Gronkowski finished the game with 6 catches for 87 yards.
This performance was special because it might be Gronkowski’s last in the NFL. We saw injuries affect Gronk a lot this season. There isn’t a much better way to end your career than by winning a Super Bowl.
Gronkowski said he will be thinking about the decision to retire for two weeks before coming to a final conclusion, but if he is smart, Gronkowski will retire.
On Super Bowl Sunday, Rob Gronkowski proved why he is the best tight end to play the position.

3. Sony Michel
Sony Michel was an absolute beast in his rookie season. His performance in the Super Bowl was the cherry on top to an amazing start to his career.
Michel ran the ball down the LA Rams throat. The Rams have one of the best front sevens in the entire NFL, but Michel showed why he is such a talented back.
In the Super Bowl Michel had 18 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown. He was one of the more dominating players on the field.
Michel proved that he was worth the 1st round pick and that he is a star in the making. The Patriots have finally found the perfect mix of power and speed.
In recent history, the Patriots have had to use a running back by committee approach. Now they can continually hand the ball off to Michel. He proved that he can be relied on this season.

Sony Michel was one of the Patriots best players this season.

4, Stephon Gilmore
Stephon Gilmore didn’t have a perfect game, but he made the perfect play when it mattered the most. This was a common theme for the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Gilmore will be remembered for his great play in the 4th quarter. He did a good job of shutting down Brandin Cooks even though Cooks was able to make some big plays.
The most important play came when the Patriots unleashed an all-out blitz on Jared Goff and he chucked the ball up and Gilmore went up and made a great interception.
Gilmore proved this season that the Patriots made the right decision choosing him over Malcolm Butler. This was probably Gilmore’s best season of his career. He was the defensive MVP for the New England Patriots this season.
Now Stephon Gilmore has what he has wanted most, a Super Bowl ring and he will be the core of the New England Patriots defense for the near future.

5. Jason McCourty
Jason McCourty was just like Stephon Gilmore. He didn’t have a perfect game but he made a very big play to save the game for the Patriots.
Brandin Cooks was wide open in the end zone and it seemed like the LA Rams were going to go get the lead and take control of the game, but Jason McCourty came out of nowhere and broke up the play.
It was truly amazing. I don’t know how McCourty made the play. Just look at these stats.

Jason McCourty covered 19.5 yards in 2.4 seconds to get within 0.8 yards of Cooks at pass arrival (18.86 MPH top speed). McCourty was 19.2 yards away from Cooks when Goff released the ball.#GoPats | @McCourtyTwins pic.twitter.com/NuWWqwDPiJ
This was the season of McCourty’s dreams. He finally made it to the postseason and managed to win the Super Bowl. The cherry on top is that he did it all with his twin brother.
What an amazing season it was for the New England Patriots. Another Super Bowl and another parade through Boston on Tuesday. This is just how life goes for New England Patriots fans.
