The Boston Celtics still have high hopes – what’s next if they fail?

The Boston Celtics might still win a championship this year.

That’s the craziest part of this weird, malaise-filled season. The Boston Celtics entered this season as the favorites to win the East. Experts warned against counting them out of the championship race, even with the Golden State Warriors on the other side of the fence. They have the 9th best offensive rating, 5th best defensive rating, and 5th best net rating in the league, per NBA.com.

That’s the profile of a really good team. Despite all the internal comments about guys not having fun and how hard this season is, and all the media discussion about this team being a disappointment, they’re winning games and playing great basketball, statistically speaking at least. At this point, you’ll find more people picking the Celtics to fall short in the first round than people picking them to win it all, but a team this good still has a shot. They could still win a championship.

But what if they don’t?
