The New England Patriots will most certainly target a wide receiver or two in the 2019 NFL Draft and Clemson product Hunter Renfrow wants to be one of them.

If the New England Patriots call the name of wide receiver Hunter Renfrow on Day 2 or Day 3 of the 2019 NFL Draft, it would be a dream come true for the Clemson product who admitted he can see himself as the next great slot receiver to hook up with Tom Brady.

There are not many offensive weapons college or pro who wouldn’t want to play with the greatness of Brady, but Renfrow’s vision of wearing a Patriots’ uniform comes from a lot more than a dream.

While his production at Clemson has been more than noteworthy due to how he shows up in the big game, his 5-foot-10 frame, reliability in the passing game and the way he steps up on the big stage can only remind Patriots fans of one Julian Edelman.  He is not as fast as UMass standout Andy Isabella, but his quickness and awareness would make him an instant favorite of Tom Brady.

So, is it his fate to end up in New England?  Well, sometimes dreams have a way of foreshadowing what’s to come.

"“I would love to be a Patriot.  Whoever gets me, that would be awesome,” Renfrow told Scott Keepfer of the Greenville News back in March.  “I had a dream I was a Patriot last night.  It was the weirdest thing.  I went to sleep and…I was having a meeting with Tom Brady.”"

Beyond dreaming about playing with Tom Brady, the Patriots and Hunter Renfrow seem primed for one another.  Heck, he is already signing Patriots jerseys with his name on it:

Not only does Renfrow fit the mold of slot receivers the team has had over the last couple decades, he is a proven big game performer who could only learn from the one player he is being compared to.

Renfrow’s thoughts on Julian Edelman

Like Tom Brady, New England Patriots No. 1 receiver and Super Bowl LIII MVP Julian Edelman is not getting any younger.  So, it may be time to find Edelman’s replacement as well.

While the team does have 2017 sixth-round pick Braxton Berrios in the mix, a player like Hunter Renfrow cannot be ruled out as a mid-round pick.  He certainly knows that and is already embracing learning from a player such as Edelman.

"“Just his intelligence,” Renfrow said of Edelman, via Patriotswire.com.  “I love what they did in the Super Bowl, and he just found a way to get open.  He really didn’t have a route – he just found an open space.  So I love that, and that’s kind of the backyard football mentality that it takes.”"

Just like Julian Edelman, Hunter Renfrow is the type of backyard player who would thrive in the New England Patriots offense.

Labeled as a great route runner, his desire to be a Patriot is certainly reciprocated by a team that currently desires wide receiver talent in any form.
