The quarterback situation

Anthony Brown’s injury was a non-contact one, suffered when he made a cut, planting with his left leg at the tail end of a 14-yard run.

The quarterback had started this game out in nearly perfect fashion, throwing 6-7 for 193 yards and one touchdown.

Brown also suffered a non-contact injury in 2017, a right knee injury that ended his redshirt freshman season.

In his place, Dennis Grosel stepped in. And he made his mark immediately, throwing a touchdown pass to Idrizi on his first pass of the game.

Grosel finished the half 6-11, including his second touchdown pass of the game and connecting with Long on a two-point conversion.

The second-half was tougher sledding for Grosel, with errant passes mixed in, including an interception. He finished 9-24 for 111 yards, 3 touchdowns and the pick.

Grosel also carried the ball six times for 47 yards.

It’s tough to speculate the extent of Brown’s injury at the time of this writing. It did not look good, however, and I think there’s a good chance Grosel is on the field when Boston College next plays on 10/19.

Whoever is under center, the focus will still be on Dillon. Let’s hope the defense shores things up during the bye week. If not, expect a lot more of these high-scoring affairs in the future.
