Last matchup: Super Bowl LI – Philadelphia Eagles 41, New England Patriots 33

Following the last matchup between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles, the world was wondering why Bill Belichick benched Malcolm Butler, Rob Gronkowski was talking retirement and Tom Brady was wondering if everything he sacrificed for the team was appreciated.

Of course, that was following a 41-33 Eagles victory in Super Bowl LII, a game in which Brady threw for over 500 yards and the team still lost.

While Patriots fans would love to forget that game, it was a thrilling contest that featured a lot of offense and ended with a lot of drama and question marks about the team’s future.

With Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson rubbing salt in the wounds talking about the lack of “fun” in New England, losing that Super Bowl in that fashion really sparked the Patriots into turning all that drama into motivation.

Of course, since then, Malcolm Butler took his talents to Tennessee, Gronkowski actually retired, but not before helping the team win Super Bowl LIII and Tom Brady is still beating time.

Oh…and there has been a lot of fun going on in Foxborough.
