Northeastern

Northeastern has absolutely dominated this year, both in their conference and in the national standings, where they’re ranked #1 and #3, respectively. Currently coming off of two straight shutouts vs. UConn, the (Northeastern) Huskies are hot and not looking to slow down as they inch closer to this year’s Beanpot Tournament.

It would be remiss not to mention goaltending phenom Aerin Frankel, who earned her USA Hockey senior team debut earlier this season during the NCAA winter break. Frankel suited up in the red, white, and blue and made 27 saves for Team USA to get the shutout. Her impressive season doesn’t stop there, either — she’s currently on a three game shutout streak, the last of which marks her tenth career shutout.

Frankel isn’t the only one who’s been on a hot streak. Sophomore forward and Swiss national team member Alina Mueller leads the team and the conference with 38 points to her name. She’s on top of the conference with assists too, and is only two goals shy of taking the goal-scoring lead all to herself as well. Chloé Aurard is looking good for the Huskies as well, as she rides a five game point streak into this weekend’s series.

Northeastern squares off against the Vermont Catamounts next weekend in Burlington, Vermont, who are 9-10-6 on the season.
