Boston Celtics: 3 bench players to watch if NBA season resumes
Romeo Langford
Due to an injury that limited him prior to the start of the 2019-20 NBA season, Boston Celtics wing Romeo Langford was the forgotten rookie despite being the player drafted the highest.
Perhaps because he wasn’t the sexy choice of the 2019 NBA Draft with the No. 14 pick overall, Langford kind of flew under the radar through the first half of the season, but with some extended minutes due to injury, the Indiana product showed glimpses of why he was a lottery pick.
As unfair as it is to put pressure on a rookie, Romeo Langford has the skillset to be a factor off the bench if and when the 2019-20 NBA season resumes.
Along with some impressive offensive performances with the D-League Maine Red Claws, Langford scored a career-high 16 points in a victory over the Atlanta Hawks in an early February contest.
Making his first career start, Langford went 5-of-11 from the field in scoring his 16 points in 29 minutes. Not only did he show what he can add on the defensive end, his versatility offensively is something to watch going forward.
On a team stacked at wing, Romeo Langford is a player who adds depth if injuries are again an Achilles heel for the Boston Celtics if there is a continuance of the season.
His gain of experience along with Brad Stevens’ growing confidence in him comprises an internal option that can improve the bench.
