New England Patriots: Final 7-round NFL mock draft wish list
Third round, No. 87 overall: Harrison Bryant, tight end, Florida Atlantic
On their second pick, No. 87 late in the third round, the New England Patriots will go with tight end, Harrison Bryant. from Florida Atlantic.
Last season the Patriots got very little production from the tight end position and not too much blocking either. They failed to address it sufficiently in the off season and they paid a steep price.
It is unlikely any one player in this draft with the possible exception of Cole Kmet of Notre Dame could even begin to approximate the dual-capabilities of Rob Gronkowski.
Trading up to get him is not an idea to which I am opposed to.
If the Patriots can trade two of their four third-round picks and another lower pick perhaps to draft Kmet in the second round, I think that would be a great move.
Assuming that they keep the pick, Bryant is the choice. Bryant can catch the ball and won the John Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end last season.
Bryant helps fill in the pass-catching aspect of what Gronk brought to the table. Bryant’s measurables are good. He is 6’5″ and 243 pounds. Adequate size for a pass catching tight end.
Bryant checks all the boxes for the pass-catching tight end that New England needs. If he’s available and a move for Kmet is not in the cards, take him here.
