All Michael Chavis seems to do is hit mammoth homeruns.

On Wednesday night, the young slugger cemented the team’s shutout victory by launching this two-run 421-foot homerun in the sixth inning to give the Boston Red Sox a 5-0 lead and really make the performance by Martin Perez count:

"“I caught that one pretty well,” Chavis said following the game, as transcribed by NESN.  “I had a good idea where it was going. …I mean, it felt good, but it’s kind of a weird situation.  The numbers showed up today and the results were there, but I felt a lot better than the results and numbers have been lately.”"

What Chavis is talking about there is the team’s offensive struggles.  He is one of many players staying positive despite what the numbers are showing.  And that positivity is exactly what a talented lineup needs when trying to get back on track.

Yes, Rafael Devers and J.D. Martinez have yet to spark the offensive fire we all know they are capable of.  And with Andrew Benintendi in one of his seasonal yearly slumps, players like Michael Chavis and the player named in the next slide are viable in helping the team find offense until those players really get it going.

In delivering the two-run blast that broke the game open, Chavis continues to make his homeruns count.  It seems whenever he showcases his power, it comes at an ideal time for the team and that is the making of a clutch player and something to look forward to the rest of 2020 and into the 2021 MLB season.
