The Boston Celtics bench can get it done.

What makes that offensive firepower even more dangerous is when the Boston Celtics get contributions off the bench.

With bench play being a key point of emphasis entering the game, it was great to see the bench respond beyond what they typically get from Marcus Smart.

On Friday night, it wasn’t only Smart who brought the energy off the bench.  Brad Wanamaker, Semi Ojeleye and Robert Williams all scored in double figures for the Celtics which was huge to see.

Wanamaker, who finished the game with 15 points continues to show he can give valuable minutes off the bench at the point guard position both offensively and defensively.

The minutes he gives the team allows Brad Stevens to keep Kemba Walker’s minutes down.  In the playoffs, his ability to come in the game and give the Celtics valuable minutes in key spots makes the team a deeper team knowing they can turn to a veteran like Wanamaker.

What was even more encouraging was another good night from big man Robert Williams.  He backed up a career scoring night against the Brooklyn Nets with 10 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.

The athletic big man is making the most out of his opportunity and combined with Daniel Theis gives the Boston Celtics some solid play from the five position even though they are undersized.

In all, the Celtics proved they can get effective play off the bench, which only makes them that much more dangerous.
