Boston Celtics overcome Joel Embiid, 76ers: 3 studs in Game 1 win
Jayson Tatum put the Boston Celtics on his shoulder.
With 21 of his 32 points in the first half, Jayson Tatum not only kept the Boston Celtics in the game, but he showed that he was the best player on the court.
Joel Embiid may be a monster in the paint, but Tatum showed he can score from anywhere on the court and the Philadelphia 76ers has a tough time containing him, especially during that first half.
Taking defenders off the dribble this like this, Jayson Tatum was able to get whatever he wanted.
But what was more impressive about Tatum’s night was his 13 rebounds and 3 blocks shots. When he wasn’t scoring, he was impacting the game both on the boards and defensively, which was big considering the one disadvantage the Celtics had coming into this series was size.
It really was special to watch, especially if you are a teammate like Kemba Walker.
"“Those two dues are super-special talents. They showed it today,” Walker said, via Celtics.com. “Every big moment, they made big plays. Whenever we needed a big play, they made it.”"
It’s absolutely stems from that playoff experience Jaylen Brown mentioned. Both of these players have matured due to that experience and along with that super special talent they are turning into big time leaders on and off the court before our very eyes.
This is what the Boston Celtics envisioned when they drafted these two studs and now the rest of the NBA is seeing just how dynamic a duo they are.
