Boston Bruins: Jaroslav Halak needs to be better in 2020 NHL Playoffs
By Sam Minton
The Boston Bruins might have won Game Four, but Jaroslav Halak needs to be better if the team is going to go far in the playoffs.
Game Four was a wild ride for Boston Bruins fans. After two horrible periods, Boston was somehow able to pull out a win.
Now plenty of guys stepped up in the third period, but one guy that struggled was Jaroslav Halak.
The first two goals that Halak gave up were soft. They were saves that playoff goaltenders should be making. He had a clear view of the puck and should have been able to get in front of the puck.
Now on one of the goals, it was simply bad goaltending. Halak stabbed at the puck with his glove and he came up unsuccessful.
The Boston Bruins are going to be able to score. Now that Jaroslav Halak is in net they will need to.
But Halak can’t rely on his teammates to score three or four goals a game. He will have to edge out a game at some point.
Now Halak has had a great season for the Bruins up to this point. In 31 games, Halak went 18-6-6 with a .919 save percentage and a goals against average of 2.39.
Jaroslav Halak is capable of being a quality goaltender. He has shown us time and time again. We just need him to do that in the postseason.
Game 5 is a great opportunity for Bruins goalie and the team. Boston can put away the Carolina Hurricanes and Halak can build momentum. A nice 30-plus save game can do a lot for a goalie’s confidence. Boston Bruins fans will be keeping an eye on just how well Halak does in his next game.
The Boston Bruins need a consistent Jaroslav Halak if they are going to win the Stanley Cup. If he keeps performing as he has in the last two games, Boston will be in trouble.
