New England Patriots rookie tight end Dalton Keene will earn his Rambo nickname

While all eyes will be on rookie tight end Devin Asiasi, it will be the other rookie tight end Dalton Keene who makes the biggest first impression in his New England Patriots debut.

At 6’4, 250 pounds, Keene is a versatile playmaker who can do different things on the field.  Where I see him used most is as a fullback/tight end hybrid who Josh McDaniels will run some creative plays for.

With a combination of athleticism, power and a “Rambo” like approach to the game, Dalton Keene will flash in his debut as one of those classic Bill Belichick players who will do multiple things on the field.

The Patriots coach definitely identified that after drafting him with the 101st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

"“When you watch Dalton on tape, you don’t see a lot of things we do, but that happens with a lot of player,” Belichick said post-draft, via SI.com.  “He’s a smart kid and should be able to handle it.”"

After a season of not getting much production out of the tight end position, the Patriots will utilize the talent of both Devin Asiasi and Keene, particularly Keene who could play a role in the running game as well as leaking out for explosive plays.

In the Week 1 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, a bold prediction is that he will have two eye-opening plays catching the ball.  What will stand out will be his ability to make things happen after the catch.  It will be something New England Patriots fans haven’t seen since the days of…Rob Gronkowski.
