Stephon Gilmore picks up where he left off for the New England Patriots

Speaking of cornerbacks, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year will have a say in the outcome of this game.

With a nice bump in his contract and a little revenge on his mind against the Miami Dolphins and Ryan Fitzpatrick, Gilmore will win the battle against DeVante Parker, a battle he did not have success with in the Week 17 Dolphins upset that knocked the Patriots out of a bye.

Redemption game?

Absolutely for a competitor like Stephon Gilmore, who is approaching this game and this year with a fresh attitude and strategy.

"“The good things about football, every year starts over,” Gilmore said, via NESN.  “You’ve got a chance to prove yourself every year.  This is the first game that you get the opportunity to go out there and prove yourself.  I take that mindset each and every week no matter what happened last year, the year before.  I try to prove myself each and every week and every game.  I’m looking forward to it.”"

A bold prediction for this game is that Gilmore will pick off Ryan Fitzpatrick twice in this game while preventing Parker from having the 8-catch, 137-yard performance he had in the Week 17 upset victory over the New England Patriots to end the 2019 regular season.

In all, Gilmore will inspire the entire secondary in keeping the Dolphins receivers relatively quiet leaving more emphasis on that front seven and their ability to limit the running game and defend against a tight end like Mike Gesicki.

Overall prediction: New England Patriots 27, Miami Dolphins 10
