Derek Rivers

There’s one player that needs to be discussed when talking about the Patriots Week 1 victory. Derek Rivers was a surprising success against the Dolphins.

Rivers was the only player to register a sack for New England. It was just the second of his career.

So far Rivers has only played in seven games. He has dealt with injury problems and has yet to make an impact on the defensive line. Hopefully, this season Rivers will finally get to show what he is made of.

If Rivers continues to get to the quarterback, New England will have to play him. A pass rush that looked poised for a step back, could find some success. That should get Patriots fans excited seeing that they already have a stellar secondary.

So Week 1 is in the books and New England was victorious. You couldn’t have asked for a better start for the Patriots. Hopefully, that momentum will continue into Week 2.
