New England Patriots trade targets: Evan Engram needs a change of scenery

If there is ever a top draft pick who needs a revival it is New York Giants talented tight end Evan Engram.

On the last year of his rookie deal, the injury prone tight end may be worth the risk considering the lack of production the New England Patriots have gotten thus far this season out of the position.

As a name mentioned in trade rumors before, Engram would be a low-risk, high reward option for Bill Belichick who former Patriots coach and current Giants head coach Joe Judge may be willing to ship off to New England.

With just 18 catches for 147 yards this season, the Giants are likely done with Evan Engram following the season anyway, so getting something for him, even if it’s a high mid-round pick may just be enough to get him on the field with Cam Newton.

Unless Ryan Izzo or one or both of the team’s rookie tight ends (Devin Asiasi or Dalton Keene) break out or show a glimmer of something the next two games, Evan Engram is an affordable option at tight end with a lot of star player potential if he can stay healthy.

If all it takes is a mid-round pick to acquire him, Bill Belichick should help out his former organization and take the young tight end off their hands.  It could just be one of those transactions that turn to gold for the New England Patriots.  Even if it’s just for a season.
