Kyle Rudolph adds a veteran presence

The tight end answer is Kyle Rudolph.

Unless something dramatic changes, the New England Patriots are not likely to acquire either Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku or New York Giants tight end Evan Engram.

Although both of those players are talent and yet to reach their potential, a change of scenery could be what each those players need.  However, it doesn’t appear either team will be willing to deal those players unless they are blown away with an offer.

If Tom Brady was still at quarterback, perhaps Bill Belichick would go after a player like Engram who is on a 1-6 football team and also on the last year of his rookie deal, but Brady is not the quarterback.

With three young tight ends on the roster who have yet to make an impact, a deal for veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph could both help Cam Newton in the passing game and give the team some leadership at the position that could help those players grow.

Obviously frustrated in Minnesota, a deal to a 2-5 football team might not exactly inspire a player like Rudolph, but a chance to be a featured tight end again and help a New England Patriots offense turn things around may be enough to inspire Rudolph.

With just 11 receptions for 135 yards this season, a change in scenery appears to be in the books for Kyle Rudolph.  Why not New England?
