The maturation of Jakobi Meyers continues

The New England Patriots lack wide receiver weapons, but one player who will not sneak up on the Baltimore Ravens is Jakobi Meyers.

Following his most productive game as a pro in which he snagged a career-high 12 catches for 169 yards, Meyers has not only catapulted himself as a top target for Cam Newton, he has also caught the attention of Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

"“I think he’s done a great job playing the position,” Harbaugh said Wednesday, via Masslive.com.  “He’s got talent.  He’s rangy, got good hands, catch radius, gets open.  He seems to understand coverages and leverages really well.  He seems to be tuned into the offense.  So, all those things make him definitely a priority guy that we have to be very conscious of the cover.”"

With Julian Edelman out and N’Keal Harry dealing with a concussion, the opportunity has been there for Jakobi Meyers and boy has he taken advantage of it.  The key to his success and maturation as a receiver, however, is how he performs when the opposing defense is keyed in on him.

This will be a test for Meyers, but he will find a way to get catches at key points in this game.  It won’t be the 169-yard performance he had against the New York Jets, but his ability to find openings in the defense will further his praise as an emerging playmaker in this offense.

If Cam Newton and the New England Patriots score some points in this game, Jakobi Meyers will play a role in keeping the chains moving.
