Lawrence Guy has to be the guy

To stop the Baltimore Ravens offense, the New England Patriots have to prevent explosive rushing plays.

That is going to start upfront and it’s going to start in the middle.  That’s where Lawrence Guy has to be the guy against his former team.

Already shorthanded up front, Guy has been limited all week in practice, but it appears he’s going to give it a go in this game and the Patriots simply need him.

Ranking 17th in the NFL in explosive rushes allowed, this seems like mismatch that gives Bill Belichick’s team no chance in stopping the challenge Lamar Jackson and running backs J.K. Dobbins and Mark Ingram presents.

As the veteran on the defensive line, Lawrence Guy has to not only lead by being physical, he has to be the communicator on that line and fill those rushing lanes up the middle.

Of course, runs to the outside are what has been killing the New England Patriots defense, but if they do stack the box and use smaller, but quicker players such as Josh Uche, Kyle Dugger and Adrian Phillips to help contain the Ravens rushing attack, there is a chance the Patriots pull off the upset, especially if the secondary comes to play.

In summary, it will all start with Lawrence Guy on the defensive side of the ball.
