Stephon Gilmore and the New England Patriots secondary vs Keenan Allen

While the New England Patriots are still searching for a high-level wide receiver who can break open any game, their top defensive player will be playing against one in a Los Angeles Chargers uniform.

Three-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen basking on another 1,000-yard season and presents a huge problem for the Patriots secondary.

Not only is he big and fast, he is a “savvy” route runner who finds a way to be at the right place at the right time for rookie quarterback Justin Hebert.  If Gilmore is not at the top of his game, it could be a long day for the Patriots secondary and the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year knows the challenge he is up against.

"“Each week it changes.  Different type of receivers,” Gilmore said of his matchup against Allen, as transcribed by NESN.  “They’ve got Keenan Allen, Mike Williams making plays for them.  They have a great quarterback.  So, it’s a big challenge for us.  Those guys are making plays in the passing game, so I’m looking forward to those opportunities of going against those guys.”"

While Stephon Gilmore hasn’t been his usual dominant self, mainly due to dealing with COVID and a leg injury, he is still one of the top cornerbacks in the league and is due to have one of those impact games he really has yet to have this season.

This is definitely going to be a fun matchup to watch folks.  Let’s just hope Gilmore and the New England Patriots come out on the winning end of one-on-one battle.
