Boston Celtics lineup: Perfect 2nd unit – Power Forward: Grant Williams

There was some chatter about Grant Willams becoming a part of the Celtics starting five. That move would make sense due to his defensive skills but his offensive skills are still lacking.

Having Tatum at the four would stretch out opposing defenses and open up the paint. Also, you would like to think that Tatum would be able to take advantage of such matchups. He could have an MVP level season.

That means that Williams will be a perfect addition to the second unit. Having a player like Williams on the second unit will ensure that they have someone who can shut down opponents. With Boston’s second unit sometimes struggling to score, they need a strong defensive effort.

Williams still needs to improve, especially on offense. He needs to improve as a perimeter shooter.

In today’s NBA everyone needs to have a solid jump shot. The game is spreading out, not getting more focused on the paint. It doesn’t matter how great you are on defense if you are a nonfactor on offense.

So the 2020-21 season will be crucial for Williams. It will show just how ready he is for a potential starting job. Having him as your power forward would be great for the second unit.
