Boston Celtics need a healthy Kemba Walker when it counts.

The Boston Celtics have a pretty good record without the services of All-Star guard Kemba Walker, but they are going to need both his scoring and leadership as the season moves forward and going into the playoffs.

While Kemba’s knee is a long-term concern, the 30-year-old guard has been cleared to practice, which indicates that he will be on the floor sooner rather than later, which creates good problems for the Celtics.

With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown playing on All-Star levels, would Walker’s return hinder that just a bit?

Also, in his absence, the Celtics have gotten solid play out of veteran point guard Jeff Teague and rookie Payton Pritchard.  Does Kemba’s return take away some of his minutes?

Again, good problems to have if the rotation is handled right.  Most importantly, it allows Brad Stevens to manage the minutes of Kemba Walker to keep him fresh and ready for when the games really count.

In all, this should be a win-win situation for the Boston Celtics in 2021.  Adding a veteran All-Star to the mix who is already on the team can help Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge make a move or two to strengthen other areas of need, which leads to the biggest wish for the new year.
