Power hitter: Boston Red Sox acquire Kris Bryant

This Boston Red Sox trade with the Chicago Cub for the services of 2016 National League MVP winner Kris Bryant would certainly put the team back on the map as a World Series contender…assuming the pitching is back to respectability.

There were rumblings surrounding this trade back in November, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if the deal actually went down.

However, it would still rock MLB and the AL East in particular.

Depending on what the Red Sox would have to give up acquiring the 29-year-old power hitter (which may center around Bobby Dalbec), Bryant would give Boston a lineup that could rival that of the New York Yankees.

Just imagine a line of Alex Verdugo, Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez, Kris Bryant, Rafael Devers, along with a rejuvenated Andrew Benintendi and don’t forget about Hunter Renfroe.

A player who has averaged 29 home runs over the last six seasons playing half his games at Fenway Park…whew!

Suddenly, at least offensively, the Boston Red Sox would be a potent force that would strike fear to opposing pitching staffs.

While rumors died back in November, the fact that Chaim Bloom was sniffing around the idea of trading for Kris Bryant means it could pick up again.  With the New York Mets rocking the league with the blockbuster deal for Francisco Lindor, perhaps it’s time for another big-market team to shatter the rumor mill.

Why not the Boston Red Sox?
