Six Super Bowl championships in 9 big game appearances since 2001 has not only established the franchised as one of the greatest dynasties in all of sports, but has etched a legend quarterback in Tom Brady and a legend coach in Bill Belichick as two of the faces of the NFL.
With that of course comes controversy, scandal and drama, but as highlighted in this list, true New England Patriots fans stay true to their team, even when they grew up in a different country. Let’s start with a British superfan who absolutely loves the team.
No. 5: Elton John
Who would’ve thought that Grammy-award winning musician Elton John is a huge New England Patriots fan?
Well, besides being one of the biggest selling singer-songwriters of all-time, the Rocket Man loves him some American football, particularly the Patriots as he has been a close friend to team over Robert Kraft for over 25 years.
Elton John once named New England Patriots honorary captain
So, besides hanging out with rapper Meek Mill, Mr. Kraft has a music legend in his close circle of friends as well. That friendship has not only instilled Elton John as one of the Patriots’ biggest fans, it also earned him the status of the team’s honorary captain back when the New England Patriots played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Wembley Stadium in 2009.
Whoa! Not even Tom Brady has worn the “C” on his uniform.
Like most Patriots fans, the legendary recording artist have watched the dynasty grow. With Robert Kraft as one of his “best friends in the whole wide world” as he proclaimed at a 2013 TD Garden Concert, you better believe Elton John will stick with the Patriots even now that Tom Brady is actually playing for… the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
