Patriots rumors: 3 free agent wide receiver targets of supreme talent
New England Patriots wide receiver: JuJu Smith-Schuster
The big prize receiver remaining is JuJu Smith-Schuster. Yes, Kenny Golladay is still out there, but Smith-Schuster is the better fit with the Patriots and a player Bill Belichick has seen hurt his team first-hand.
You know Belichick likes to go out and get those types of players.
Would Smith-Schuster come to New England with the chance to be the No. 1 receiver?
At just 24 years old, sky is the limit for Smith-Schuster, who was one of the reasons Antonio Brown’s time ended in Pittsburgh.
Last season with the Steelers, Smith-Schuster caught 97 passes for 831 yards. As both a possession type receiver and a receiver who could break big plays, the 24-year-old receiver has nice size and could be the type of young receiver who takes care of that No. 1 receiver role for years to come.
With the team rumored in having trade discussions involving former No. 1 pick N’Keal Harry, further shocking NFL free agency by signing JuJu Smith-Schuster would suddenly give the New England Patriots a very explosive playmaking group even with Cam Newton under center.
Suddenly, the Patriots would have Smith-Schuster, Nelson Agholor, Kendrick Bourne, Julian Edelman and Jakobi Meyers to go along with the tight end two-headed monster of Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry.
The longer Smith-Schuster is a free agent, the more this could actually happen.
