The Boston Celtics are a team barely gasping for playoff air and with the NBA Trade Deadline approaching, it is up to Danny Ainge to shake things up get the C-train back on the right tract.

With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown having All-Star years, the Celtics are running out of excuses to be underperforming the way they have been as a team.

Lack of depth, Kemba Walker’s struggle, a lack of an impact big man are all reasons that separate the Celtics from the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

In admitting his team, as currently constructed, is not good enough, Ainge has to find a deal he believes will work and would be worth it.  As he has demonstrated in previous seasons, he simply won’t make a deal to make a deal even with the $28.5 million traded player exception (TPE) he is playing with.

"“This is the week where the heat gets turned up,” Ainge said regarding the upcoming trade deadline, via Masslive.com.  “People who want to make deals get a little more serious about it.  So, we’ll see. …The phones have been ringing for the last few weeks, but I think it’ll pick up this week.”"

So, the real question is how serious is Ainge about making a move to make the 2020-21 version of the Boston Celtics a more competitive team?  It’s obvious a change is needed, but that change has to compliment the future as well as the rest of this season.

Here are three blockbuster deals that could help the Celtics rise in the East.
