Third, the New England Patriots should refrain from drafting any defensive tackles

New England’s history in drafting defensive tackles, well, is awful. They seem clueless, frankly in finding quality at this position almost in any round in the draft.

Fortunately, there is one exception, and that is one of the all-time great New England Patriots’ defensive tackles (along with Houston Antwine and Jim Lee Hunt), the great Vince Wilfork.

With Wilfork, they struck gold, not only in onfield talent but off the field as well. Vince was amazing and why he is not a coach or otherwise employed by the Patriots is a question that needs to be asked and answered.

But who else performed? The answer is, well, just about no one. Malcom Brown was decent. But only that. Otherwise, a complete fail. Drafting that position that poorly says, you have some issues to address there. But the story is not a great one.

Let’s leave that issue to Bill Belichick to sort out.

So, to sum up, this brief expose of only a part of the Patriots’ draft history, in the positions of defensive back, wide receivers, and defensive tackles … well, they should just stay away.

Don’t draft any players at these positions in 2021 or anytime thereafter under the current regime. They can’t do it right, so, statistical analysis says, draft elsewhere where you might actually hit on a player or two.
