The New England Patriots draft a big-time linebacker, the top-rated in the draft, Micah Parsons

An option might be a linebacker. While this is not of the highest priority due to free agency signings, several of the New England Patriots top linebackers are getting a bit long-in-the-tooth football-wise and it’s not a terrible idea. Who might be there?

One guy that some draft people have suggested is Micah Parsons of Penn State.

Parsons is looked upon as the consensus best linebacker in the class.

walterfootball.com says,

"Parsons really jumps out on tape, as he made a lot of big plays for Penn State with clutch stops and a lot of disruption for the opponent. He has good size and strength to go along with speed and athleticism … Parsons has the physical skill set to cover tight ends in man coverage… Parsons is a tough run defender who demonstrates instinctiveness and read-and-react ability. He does a very nice job of reading his keys and then firing to the ball to limit runs. Parsons will quickly diagnose a play and dart behind the line to start a tackle for a loss…"

Nice comparison and very solid skill set. Whether he’d be available at no. 15 is debatable, probably not. A strong move up may have to be made to get him. If they really like the player, go for it.
