The New England Patriots draft a left offensive tackle, Christian Darrisaw to fill a big need at 15

The New England Patriots need offensive tackle depth. Their position is precarious at that position with two top offensive linemen players in short-term contact situations.

They would be Trent Brown and Isaiah Wynn. After those two along with the ever-versatile Michael Onwenu, there’s little depth at all.

Drafting a top offensive tackle at 15 might be a very good investment in the future, again, if they don’t move for the young quarterback.

One offensive left tackle who might still be available at 15 is Christian Darrisaw from Virginia Tech.

Here’s what pff.com has to say about Darrisaw whom they ranked as their 15th player overall,

"Darrisaw earned the highest PFF grade of any offensive tackle in the Power 5 in 2020 — there wasn’t a single blip on his radar from start to finish. He’s such a powerful 315-pounder and allowed all of six pressures over the entire season. More importantly, he didn’t allow a single sack or hit."

Sounds like a perfect fit for the New England Patriots offering immediate competition to keep their current tackle starters on their toes, so to speak.

He’ll also be a ready-made insert if either Brown and/or Wynn are injured or if they leave after this season. He’d be a great pick for both talent and need.

He’s listed at 6’5″ tall and 311 pounds. That’s not an overwhelming size for an offensive left tackle in today’s NFL but his talent level could make up for any shortcomings there.
