7 Boston Bruins who won’t return next season – David Krejci

There is definitley a possibility that David Krejci ends up staying with the Boston Bruins. After Charlie Coyle’s difficult season, it’s clear that the Bruins still need a second line center.

While Krejci has performed well in the playoffs, his play in the regular season has been mediocre at times. The center has struggled to score goals but that seems like it might partly be due to the lack of talent around him. Still at the end of the day, you need to perform if you want to be paid like a star.

In the 2021 regular season, Krejci was only able to register eight goals. For a top-six player that just isn’t good enough.

Now at 35 years old, Krejci has some decisions to make. He is coming of a contract that carried an annual cap hit of $7.25 million.

Another wrinkle is that Krejci has mentioned repeatedly that he would like to finish his career over in Europe. He wants to return home and it wouldn’t be surprising if that’s a priority in his next contract.

It’s time for Boston to get younger and while Krejci has been great for the Bruins, it’s time for him to go.
