1. The time is now for New England Patriots linebacker Josh Uche

Another player who showed glimpses of promise in 2020 was Michigan product Josh Uche.

It was actually a tough choice choosing between Uche and Kyle Dugger as the second-year player who is destined to shine the most, but Uche is the choice here due to the quickness and versatility he adds to that New England Patriots front-seven.

Patriots’ fans didn’t get to see a lot of Uche, but when he was on the field, he did make an impact beyond what was seen or even the actual stats may show.  Take a look at this cool stat from Pro Football Focus:

There is no doubt Uche can get to the quarterback, but if he is able to make improvements against the run and in pass defensive coverage, he will be on the field more.  Given the depth the Patriots will have at the position with the returns of Dont’a Hightower and Kyle Van Noy along with the addition of Matthew Judon, there won’t be too much pressure placed on Uche in 2021.

That, however, does not mean expectations won’t be high.  Like Anfernee Jennings, Uche will be put in situations where he can best utilize his skill.  That will be rushing the passer and using his speed and athleticism to take on running backs and tight ends in the passing game.

Look for Josh Uche to take advantage of his opportunity and by middle season, watch for his snaps to increase with the New England Patriots defense.

In summary, if all these players shine in 2021, the Patriots will be in a good position for 2021 and beyond.
