Boston Red Sox starting pitcher MLB Trade Deadline targets: Max Scherzer

If you are going to dream, why not dream big right?

The best pitcher available at the MLB Trade Deadline would certainly put the Boston Red Sox in a fantastic position as far as their starting rotation goes.

Imagine Max Scherzer, Chris Sale, Natthan Eovaldi and Eduardo Rodriguez as the No. 4 starter in that rotation.

Sound awesome right?

With a 7-4 record and 2.83 ERA, Scherzer has been great with the Washington Nationals in 2021.  An 8-time All-Star, including a node this season, the 36-year-old starter is proving he is still a top-line pitcher, so why not go all out and add him to the mix?

Yes, dream on considering the prospects it would take to acquire Scherzer, but such a move by Chaim Bloom would definitely rock MLB and would be a nice counter to the Tampa Bay Rays adding Nelson Cruz to their lineup.

In all, Scherzer is probably the most unrealistic target on this list, but certainly an interesting target in terms of how much of a force such a move would make this 2021 Boston Red Sox squad.
