Boston Red Sox: The greatness of Chris Sale is he’s ‘never satisfied’
Boston Red Sox manager minute: Alex Cora got his Ace back
No one in baseball appreciates an ace serving the role as a stopper more than the team’s manager and Alex Cora was all smiles after Chris Sale did his thing against the Texas Rangers.
While Cora has done well in managing the starting rotation in absence of Sale, the manager has also been dealing with a very inconsistent rotation. In Nathan Eovaldi, he has a pitcher worthy of being an All-Star when he’s consistent but hasn’t been very reliable lately. In Eduardo Rodriguez, he has a pitcher with the talent to be great but seems to always have some sort of injury or mental collapse roadblocking his potential greatness.
Though Nick Pivetta has been a surprise, he is nothing more than a No. 4 starter who is now starting to struggle on the mound. There’s Tanner Houck, but he’s a prospect growing each time he steps on the mound. So, Sale’s return has been very timely for Cora who is seeing glimpses of that dominance Sale is known for. He is also seeing an ace inspired to stop the team’s losing streak.
"“Obviously, his whole career he’s been a stopper,” Cora said following the game. “He’s been an ace. He’s had a marvelous career. That’s what we kind of needed tonight. We had a rough series. It was nice to come back with a win.”"
Hopefully, Chris Sale’s performance can spark a winning streak and get this Boston Red Sox team back in the running for the American League East crown.
