Boston College Eagles: A surplus of receivers

The spotlight in this unit is firmly pointed at Zay Flowers, who is primed for All-American consideration. And Kobay White makes a triumphant return, with Jaelen Gill and CJ Lewis also stellar contributors.

And yet, it could be Jehlani Galloway who has the breakout season.

Focus will be given to these other receivers, and with good reason. Flowers, Gill, and Lewis combined for 113 receptions in 2020. And in 2019, White had 29 receptions for 460 yards and five touchdowns.

Galloway is the youngest of the bunch but came on strong to close out 2020. In his first six games, Galloway caught passes in only two (6 rec., 73 yards).

In the final five, Galloway caught a pass in every game (9 rec., 124 yards and 2 scores). Productivity arrived on at the right time, with focus being heavily deployed on Flowers.

This season should provide the chance for Galloway to make even more of an impact. He’s a solid possession receiver and, with the tight end position still a little green, could provide that safety outlet. He’ll be fighting for time on the field but as he proved last season, will take advantage of every opportunity. Meaning he’s a perfect contender to have a breakout season.
