Boston Celtics early NBA Trade Deadline targets: Davis Bertans

The name I agree with Bleacher Report about is Washington Wizards forward Davis Bertans.

There were heavy rumors back around the NBA Trade Deadline in 2020 regarding the Boston Celtics and Bertans, but nothing really materialized.

During that season, the acquisition of Bertans would’ve been huge for the Celtics because he would’ve added that stretch big scoring Brad Stevens loves to have on the floor.  During that season, the 6-foot-10 big man averaged 15.4 points a game and 4.5 rebounds.  He possibly could’ve been the difference between the Celtics getting bounced in the Eastern Conference Finals at the hands of the Miami Heat and advancing.

Also. 3 biggest trade assets to use in a blockbuster deal. light

He did have a down season in 2020, averaging 11.5 points and 2.9 rebounds, but he still has that stretch scoring ability that would open lanes for both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Obviously, the hopes are that any deal the Celtics make with the Wizards are for the services of Bradley Beal, but that kind of deal probably won’t happen unless the All-star wing forces his way out and Stevens doesn’t have to part ways with Brown.  More than likely Stevens will have to turn to players who would add depth at key positions.

The recent acquisition of Hermangomez will help that stretch big role along with Al Horford, but if either of those players aren’t fitting the bill by the time the trade deadline rolls around, the Celtics could come calling for Bertans again.

His $16 million contract fits right in and like Ingles, he should inject some instant energy with his outside scoring.  He is a little younger than Ingles, so he is a player the Celtics could keep around for a couple seasons if he fits in.  This all of course depends on the type of style Ime Udoka runs on both sides of the court.
