Two former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterbacks face off

The biggest story circulating in Boston sports at the moment is the decision by the New England Patriots to make Mac Jones the starting quarterback. When they selected him with the 15th overall pick in the NFL draft, the Patriots made Jones the future face of the franchise. With Cam Newton released, the future is now.

Jones shouldn’t have to be a world beater off the rip, but it would be very encouraging to see him show the same flashes that he did in the preseason. If he can do that, the offense will be good enough more often than not.

Against the Dolphins, Jones will have a former teammate on the opposite sideline that is trying to prove himself as well. Tua Tagovailoa is entering his second year in the league following an up and down rookie year.

Tua faced the Patriots one time last year, and he and the Dolphins were able to pull off a 22-12 win. While Tua wasn’t amazing through the air in that game, he did score two rushing touchdowns.

For these two, it will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes. In all probability, this could be the biggest key to determine which team emerges victorious.
