New England Patriots get behind Mac Jones and Rhamondre Stevenson

The Patriot’s defense was dented on the first drive of the game as D’Ernest Johnson, a little-known Browns’ running back slashed and gashed the Browns down the field.

Losing Nick Chubb for the game didn’t hurt a bit then. Johnson was basically unstoppable on the first drive of the game.

Helping him out initially, the Patriots’ run defense was sieve-like early. They couldn’t stop a cardboard cut-out of a runner.

Cleveland’s offensive line overpowered the Patriots defensive line and dominated. Even Christian Barmore was ineffective early on.

Thankfully, a perfect drive orchestrated by Mac Jones evened the score. The drive featured the running of rookie Rhamondre “Ram” Stevenson. He ran hard and tough running behind the Patriots’ offensive line with Brown a major factor.

Quickly following that first score, the defense reverted to its solid form. An interception by second-year safety Kyle Dugger brought the ball down to the Cleveland five-yard line.

One play, one run, a touchdown. Once again Rhamondre Stevenson (a favorite from the get-go in this space) took the ball and scored the six.

Take this to the bank folks, if he stays healthy, he’s going to be the next great running back for the Patriots.
