DeBerry solid in Boston College Eagles secondary

A crew with plenty of minutes logged and starts accumulated was set to lead the Boston College defense in 2021.

They delivered, though injuries did mount during the season as depth was tested and multiple freshmen were tossed into the mix.

Josh DeBerry was a constant force roaming the secondary, giving his best season to date until the injury bug caught up to him, too, the final two games.

Despite this, DeBerry finished fourth on the team in tackles with 53, including eight tackles-for-loss. DeBerry tied for the team-lead in interceptions with two interceptions and added a sack to his resume as well. Playing coverage and run support is not something a cornerback does a whole lot but DeBerry was fantastic in both this season.

The junior was rewarded with his play with a second-team All-ACC selection.

Not to go unmentioned, but transfer Jaiden Woodbey stood out in the secondary as well. Woodbey was second on the team with 56 tackles and also had two interceptions.

It was a transfer, too, who made an impact on the offensive side of the ball.
