New England Patriots still have a shot to quiet the Buffalo Bills
The New England Patriots should notice what the cocky Buffalo Bills were saying after their victory over the Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Week 16 of the NFL season.
It seems like the Bills felt pretty high and mighty about themselves after sneaking by the Patriots in that game. Just one or two big plays could have changed the entire game as poorly as the Pats played throughout.
The suggestion here for the mediocre Buffalo team is this, they shouldn’t take anything for granted. Their cocky attitude and comments can be their undoing.
New England Patriots can beat the Bills again if they meet in the playoffs
The Patriots spit the bit in the game against Buffalo at Gillette Stadium. Buffalo beat them and there’s no denying that it was deserved.
But, does anyone think that if they meet again in the playoffs that things will absolutely be the same? Nothing much went right for New England in that game. They know they have to be better.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen had this to say,
"“I don’t know who the f— they thought I was!” Allen yelled at Bills defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, per Fairburn."
They thought you were a darn good quarterback. Maybe they didn’t know you were a mouth that roared, as well. You were also lucky to boot in that game and you should realize it.
The Patriots aren’t the dumbest team in the league, you know. They’ll work on finding a way to counter what you delivered in the second game and just maybe take you out in the playoffs.
The Patriots had no sacks against Allen in the second game. Think that will happen again? Don’t bet on it. The whiff by Jamie Collins and a fourth-down play was especially huge.
They also couldn’t pass the ball at all, with Mac Jones misfiring at 43 percent completions or so. So the Bills cockiness is just the blackboard material this slipping Patriot team needs.
These mouthy Bills who by the way aren’t exactly “tearing up” the AFC East with their 9-6 record, which just happens to be the exact same record at the moment as the reeling Patriots team they ripped.
New England Patriots: Cocky Bills can be quieted
The comment by Jerry Hughes, the linebacker who roughed up Patriots Quarterback Jones and was excused by one of the worst referring non-calls you’ll ever see, had this to say,
"“It would suck to be in Boston tonight!” Hughes said while walking to the locker room, per Fairburn."
It did. Buffalo got the win and that’s all that really mattered. But, this Buffalo team shouldn’t forget that they beat a Patriot team that got no sacks and whose quarterback was a complete disaster the whole afternoon.
Expect that again in the playoffs, no matter where the game is held, and these cocky Bills could be singing a different tune after the game for certain. More likely they’ll be crying in their beer.
Do these Bills (and what actually is a “Bill” anyway, except something no one likes to see in the mail?) think that Josh Allen, their mouthy quarterback would not be sacked in the next game?
Do they believe that the Patriots’ best in the NFL defensive secondary will muff all of their interception opportunities, again, and that all those lousy refereeing calls will go against New England the third time around?
Don’t bet on it. The Patriots should be happy to get such wonderful bulletin board material. Buffalo should hope they don’t meet the Patriots in the playoffs anytime, anywhere.
New England Patriots will be aware of these mouthy Bills statements
Popping off after a win is setting up a future loss. Losers who get lucky pop off rather than do what real winners do, be happy they won, and express respect for the opponent.
It’s called being magnanimous in victory. This is especially poignant since this Buffalo Bills team hasn’t really won much of anything. (OK, the AFC East title last year after Brady left is something but not much really.)
And if they do win the AFC East this season, it will be because the Patriots blew it, not because of their own sterling record.
So, let’s leave the situation like this, the Buffalo Bills should hope against hope that they don’t face the New England Patriots again in the playoffs this season.
And here’s a prediction, if they do, their big-mouth quarterback Josh Allen and the rest of these guys could very well be looking up at the Patriots after that game. Now wouldn’t that be nice?
If they right their listing ship and they may be able to, they might be poised to sink any playoff delusions Buffalo may have. Thanks for the incentives. The Patriots certainly must appreciate it.
