Boston Celtics contemplate a Jayson Tatum package for Luka Doncic

In thinking about the one criticism Boston Celtics legend Robert Parish offered on both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, if the Dallas Mavericks were forced to move on from Luka Doncic, the team absolutely should offer up Tatum.

As Parish explained and what most Celtics fans may not be willing to admit, Tatum and Brown have a world of talent, but they don’t make the players around them better like a Larry Bird did back in the 80s.

It’s a different game and different time now, but the one young superstar closest to the comparison of Bird is obviously Doncic who can shoot while also dazzling opposing defenses with his playmaking ability.  He has become a Celtics killer over the last couple of seasons.  As they say, if you can’t beat a player, get them on your team.

In averaging 25.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists, Doncic is a triple double machine who would add a different dynamic to the Celtics.  It would take a swap for Tatum and perhaps some other assets to get him to Boston, that is why Brown wouldn’t even be considered.

Speaking of Brown, he would fit better playing with Doncic than Tatum because he is more of a slasher and now spot up shooter who could benefit greatly from Doncic’s playmaking ability.

Now, all three of these swaps may be considered fantasy at this point, but players drive the NBA, especially superstars.  If they are unable with their current situations, they are very capable of forcing their way out.

Next. One Luka Doncic trade Mark Cuban, Dallas cannot resist. dark

Maybe other than Anthony Davis, all these young players are in situations that can fester sour if things don’t turn around.  Williamson, Doncic and yes, even Tatum could be in positions to force their way out sooner rather than later.  If you are a Boston Celtics fan, you have to prepare yourself for that possibility and also prepare yourself for the potential of the team moving Jayson Tatum instead of Jaylen Brown.
